For Cindy Edwards, building a space isn’t just about event planning—it’s about creating a sense of home.
In an industry where spectacle can sometimes overshadow soul, Cindy has built her name—and legacy—on something more lasting: care, community, and the courage to do things differently.
When she returned to her family’s fourth-generation farm in Shropshire in 2010, it wasn’t with a blueprint or a business plan. It was with lived experience, deep instinct, and a vision rooted in connection. After a decade selling properties in Spain, Cindy came back not just to the land, but to possibility. She saw how spaces—whether fields or festival grounds—could become places of belonging, transformation, and joy.
In 2011, she launched L Fest—the UK’s biggest and longest-running festival for LGBTQ+ women. It wasn’t just a music festival. It was a homecoming for people who had rarely been given one. L Fest brought together comedy, cabaret, football, workshops, literature, film, and a thousand subtle moments of celebration. It offered a space where LGBTQ+ women could exist without compromise, be visible without apology, and dance, think, love, laugh, and live fully.
What started in Shropshire for two years expanded across the UK and beyond—from the hills of Llandudno to the beaches of Spain for L Fest Del Mar, a 7-day sun-soaked extension of the vision. Cindy took the heart of a movement and proved it could travel—and thrive.
It wasn’t always easy. Early on, Cindy did it all herself. From setting up stages to sourcing entertainment, wrangling line-ups to welcoming guests, she ran L Fest like the one-woman powerhouse she is. But what began solo became collaborative. Over time, she built an award-winning team of wedding professionals and event experts around her—leaders in their own right, united by her energy and ethos.
Through her work, Cindy has carved out an extraordinary niche—not just as a festival founder, but as a fearless organiser, a community advocate, and a storyteller of space. Her small black book of suppliers, entertainers, and collaborators is legendary. But it’s not just who she knows—it’s how she listens. She says yes to wild ideas. She makes dreams tangible. She understands that people don’t just want an event—they want to be seen.
And she delivers. Again and again.
Her work has earned her multiple awards, media features, and the loyalty of thousands. But accolades were never the goal. Cindy builds because she believes in it. Whether it’s a farm wedding that feels like a fairytale or a festival that feels like freedom, she brings heart, humour, and immense skill to everything she touches.
Because for Cindy Edwards, this has never just been about logistics or line-ups. It’s about visibility. It’s about joy.
And it’s about creating spaces where people—especially queer women—can show up fully, be celebrated fiercely, and know without doubt: you belong here.
