Sandy Lindsay MBE is a visionary business leader, a relentless advocate for social mobility, and a champion for young people. She has spent her career breaking down barriers to opportunity, proving that talent should not be dictated by postcode. Her impact extends far beyond the boardroom—through bold leadership, radical generosity, and an unwavering commitment to fairness, she has transformed countless lives.
Growing up on one of the UK’s most deprived council estates and attending a failing secondary school, Sandy saw first-hand how potential is too often lost—not because of lack of ambition, but because of lack of access. Determined to change this, she built Tangerine Communications from the ground up—an award-winning agency that became one of the UK’s leading communications firms. But for Sandy, success meant more than business growth. In 2017, she turned Tangerine into an employee-owned partnership, ensuring her team shared in the company’s achievements.
Sandy’s most transformative work, however, has been in creating life-changing career opportunities for young people. In 2013, she founded The Juice Academy, the UK’s first industry-led digital marketing apprenticeship programme. Under her leadership, it launched over 600 careers, bridging the gap between education and employment. A decade later, when she sold the Academy, she reinvested in the next generation—establishing The Bright Futures Fund, which supports social mobility and career access for young people in Greater Manchester.
Her commitment to change is unstoppable. Sandy serves as Vice Chair of Forever Manchester, championing grassroots causes across the city, and even joined the board of the Rugby Football League—despite never having watched a game—because she saw the power of sport to drive inclusion. Her relentless dedication to people and community was recognised in 2015 when she was awarded an MBE for services to business and young people.
Even as she transitions into semi-retirement, Sandy’s influence only continues to grow. She proves that business can be a force for good, that leadership is about lifting others up, and that the best way to create change is to make it happen. Her story is one of resilience, vision, and action—a blueprint for what it truly means to be a changemaker.
